It is easy to get around the Philippines and communicate with the locals since most speak and understand English. Even though this is a tropical paradise don’t worry about your phone sticking out in a crowd, they are used throughout the islands. If your phone uses SIM cards you can purchase a “pre-paid” card to put in your phone temporarily during your stay to avoid the roaming charges that can get expensive. For those that prefer to have cash on hand don’t worry about what to do with your home currency, it can easily be converted or even some shops accept foreign currency. Something that is universal is credit cards; all major credit cards are accepted at the larger restaurants, bars, department stores and major establishments.
